The legendary DeLorean DMC-12 car from the Back to the Future trilogy will now return in the form of an all-electric vehicle, which is set to be presented sometime this year. DeLorean has already published the first video teaser of the model on its official Twitter account.

The original DeLorean Motor Company was founded by John DeLorean in 1975, but went bankrupt shortly after. In 1995, former British engineer Stephen Wynne acquired the DeLorean branding rights and now provides support and services for the remaining DeLorean vehicles.

Aside from the teaser, there are a few details about the car. One thing we know is that the model will be called the DeLorean EVolved, which indicates that it will be an electric car with a focus on luxury. Judging by the images, the new DeLorean DMC-12 will keep familiar design and distinctive gull-wing doors.

Sony Announced Plans to Enter Electric Vehicle Market
The company also unveiled a prototype of its updated Vision-S 02 electric vehicle, emphasizing that its priority is safety and security: the prototype is equipped with 40 sensors to ensure safety.

Rumors suggest that ItalDesign may be collaborating with DeLorean Motor Company on the upcoming vehicle. Last year, ItalDesign posted a teaser image similar to the car we see in the teaser video above.
