Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk presented the company's fastest electric car model. The new Plaid car is presented in the Model S line. It can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour in two seconds, and an onboard computer can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 fps.

The new Plaid electric car has been unveiled at the company's factory in Fremont, California. The vehicle can travel almost 650 kilometers on a single charge; its maximum speed is 320 kilometers per hour. Like previous models, the Plaid received four-wheel drive and three electric motors, the peak total power of which is 1,020 horsepower.

At the presentation, Tesla solemnly handed over the first 25 Model S Plaid to customers. Elon Musk said the company will ship several hundred Model S Plaid cars per week and is likely to increase the volume to 1,000 per week in the next quarter. So far, the Model S Plaid is only available in the US for 130 thousand dollars.

Tesla started teasing the update back in late 2019. By the way, Plaid, like the name of the already well-known speed mode Ludicrous, is borrowed from Spaceballs, a film parody of the classic Star Wars trilogy.

A year later, Tesla revealed the characteristics of the Model S Plaid, and in early 2021, we were shown an updated design, with the Model X crossover receiving a redesign as well. Initially, Tesla planned to start delivering the new Model S and Model X in February, but the Model S entered the market only now. It is unknown yet when the Model X will be released.
