Google is taking its search capabilities to a new level with the introduction of AI-powered image generation and draft writing features, expanding the Search Generative Experience (SGE) suite. These innovative additions aim to assist users in generating images and written content more efficiently and creatively.
By typing a descriptive prompt into the Google search bar, users can now receive up to four generated images based on their query. For instance, if you want to create a card featuring a capybara chef cooking breakfast, simply search for "draw a picture of a capybara wearing a chef's hat and cooking breakfast." SGE will provide you with a selection of generated images, along with detailed descriptions that you can further customize to match your vision.
This new image generation capability is also available directly within Google Images, where users can see a prompt box while browsing image search results. With the power of AI, you can refine your search results and bring your creative ideas to life.
However, Google is taking responsible AI use seriously. It has implemented strict filtering policies to prevent the generation of harmful, misleading, or explicit content. Additionally, every AI-generated image comes with metadata labeling and invisible embedded watermarking to signify its AI origin. The feature is currently limited to users aged 18 and older, with continuous monitoring and enhancements planned.
In addition to image generation, Google is also enabling AI-powered draft writing through SGE. Whether you need to compose an email or document, SGE can assist you by generating draft text tailored to your query. Users can choose the length, tone, and style of the draft to suit their needs.
These new features are currently available to users who have opted into the SGE experiment through Google's Search Labs program in English within the United States.
