The popular third-party YouTube app for Android YouTube Vanced has been discontinued after facing a legal threat from Google. YouTube Vanced allowed its users to block all ads in YouTube videos without a paid YouTube Premium subscription.

The app also featured a true black theme, picture-in-picture, background playback, and other customizations unavailable in the official Android YouTube app.

YouTube to Stop Displaying the Dislike Count on Videos
By hiding the dislike count, the company wants to protect authors with a small number of subscribers from dislike attacks and foster a respectful relationship between content creators and their viewers.

In the coming days, the download links will be removed from the site. The current versions of the client will continue to work for some time, but further development of the application has been halted. The same applies to the YouTube Music Vanced app.
