Twitter Employees Sue the Company Over Unpaid Bonuses
Former and current employees of Twitter have filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging that they were not paid "tens of millions of dollars" in bonuses.
The class-action suit, led by Mark Schobinger, accuses Twitter executives, including former CFO Ned Segal, of repeatedly promising employees that they would receive 50% of their 2022 bonuses.
However, when the bonuses were due to be paid in the first quarter of 2023, Twitter failed to make the payments to employees who were still with the company at that time.
Schobinger, who previously served as Twitter's senior director of compensation, claims that he relied on the promised bonuses and turned down other job opportunities as a result. The plaintiffs' attorney, Shannon Liss-Riordan, estimates that around a couple of thousand employees would have been eligible for the bonuses.
Twitter has been facing a series of legal challenges since Elon Musk's acquisition of the company in October, and Musk's leadership has been marked by controversial decisions, including significant layoffs.
