The TikTok video streaming service is launching a new feature that will let its users turn themselves into custom animated avatars similar to Apple's Memoji and Snapchat's Bitmoji.

The feature is now available around the world and can be accessed right from the app's camera, just like other various TikTok effects.

To use the feature, you should open the app, switch your camera to selfie mode, open the effects section and select the Avatar effect. You can then either use the preset avatar or tap "new" to create your own avatar. You can customize your avatar's face shape, skin tone, hairstyle, and accessories, including piercings and makeup. Once your avatar is ready, you can start recording videos with your avatar mimicking your motion.

TikTok Adds New Tools for Tagging and Crediting Creators
TikTok is rolling out a new tool that aims to encourage users to tag, mention, or credit the creators who inspired their videos, as well as learn the importance of crediting in the digital space.

TikTok plans to make this feature as inclusive as possible and will continue to "improve and innovate to make sure the experience is truly representative of all who are on TikTok."

TikTok, Apple, and Snapchat are among many companies that integrate digital avatars into their products as a way for people to communicate without having to do it in person. TikTok avatars can particularly be used by pseudonymous content creators.
