At the recent Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled several new products, including foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Buds 2 headphones, and next-generation smartwatches Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic.

The latter are the first wearable Samsung gadgets with a Wear OS-based One UI Watch, an intuitive user interface. Among other features, the company's new wearable devices can calculate body composition.

Specs

The new watch is based on the Exynos W920 chip based on 5nm technology. The watch has 1.5 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 16 GB.

Samsung Galaxy Watch4 received a new BioActive Sensor for measuring blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level, and tracking body composition. This tool provides an in-depth understanding of one's health and fitness.

To start the analysis on your smartwatch, you need to put two fingers on the buttons on the side of the watch. In 15 seconds, the sensor will be able to analyze 2,400 data units based on user-entered height and weight parameters to determine body fat and water percentage, basal metabolic rate, and skeletal muscle. According to Samsung, the technology works with 98% accuracy and is comparable to professional check-ups in medical clinics.

The new smartwatch also features a geomagnetic sensor, as well as an accelerometer, gyro sensor, barometer and light sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Classic version support Google Pay and Samsung Pay, and boast dust and moisture protection according to the IP68 standard. They also comply with the American Army MIL-STD-810G standard. Both models can work up to 40 hours on a single charge. At the same time, both models support wireless charging according to the WPC standard.

The Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic run Wear OS, a joint development of Google and Samsung. The new operating system supports apps from both of its predecessors. The devices are compatible with smartphones running Android 6.0 and higher.

Both models of smartwatches have two sizes: Galaxy Watch4 comes in 40 and 44 millimeters, and Galaxy Watch4 Classic comes in 42 and 46 millimeters. The basic version is made of aluminum, while the classic version is made of stainless steel. The devices received Super AMOLED displays with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, the diagonal of which depends on the size of the watch.
