Instagram Is Testing Three Feed Sorting Options
The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, announced on his Twitter that the social media platform is testing three feed sorting options. They are already available for some users, and the company plans to roll out the new feature for all users in the first half of this year.
The three types of feed are:
- Home: a feed as it looks like now with content displayed based on one's interests.
- Favorites: a list of accounts whose posts and updates you don't want to miss, like one's friends or favorite creators.
- Following: a chronological feed of all publications from the accounts one follows.
Mosseri announced the return of the chronological feed in mid-December of last year. Back then, it was reported that the social media platform had been testing two options of feeds on a limited number of users to give users more control over what they see in their feed.
Instagram removed the chronological feed in 2016, replacing it with a ranking algorithm that creates a more personalized feed, which caused dissatisfaction among many users.
