Apple has taken the wraps off its latest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 9, at its latest Wonderlust event. This new model introduces innovative features, including support for gesture control, powered by the Apple S9 chip.

The standout feature of the Series 9 is its gesture control, specifically the Double Tap. This gesture allows users to interact with their smartwatch in various ways, from answering calls to controlling the camera or accessing active apps. Additionally, the S9 chip delivers a 60% performance boost and a doubled Neural Engine's power compared to the previous generation, enhancing Siri's speed and voice dictation accuracy.

Apple Patent Says That the Company Is Teaching Siri How to Read Lips
The patent application, titled “Keyword Detection Using Motion Sensing,” outlines a system where data from motion sensors, like accelerometers and gyroscopes, is used to record a user’s mouth, face, head, and neck movements as they speak a command.

The display shines with a maximum brightness of 2000 nits and a minimum of 1 nit, reducing eye strain in low-light conditions. Thanks to a more energy-efficient chip, the Series 9 still boasts an impressive 18-hour battery life.

Apple Watch Series 9 starts at $399 and is available for preorder, with shipments beginning on September 22.
