Twitter Is Rolling Out Its Edit Button for Twitter Blue Subscribers
Twitter is finally rolling out the long-awaited and highly-requested edit button in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
The company first confirmed that it was working on the new feature on April 1 of this year. According to Twitter's VP product Jay Sullivan, editing tweets has been "the most requested feature for many years."
After a brief public demonstration of how the feature will work, Twitter is now giving Twitter Blue subscribers from the above-mentioned countries the ability to edit tweets. From now on, these users can edit the content of a tweet after it has been published, which means that they will no longer have to delete and publish the tweet again in case they make a mistake or a typo.
The company also noted that the testing period went well, and the new feature will soon be available to users in the United States as well, even though the exact launch date was not specified.
Last month, Twitter said that the company was taking its time to properly implement the new feature. Twitter will now pay attention to how it affects how people read, write and interact with tweets.
The new feature will allow users to make changes to their tweets within 30 minutes of their initial publication. Edited tweets will have a modified timestamp that reads "last edited" as well as the time of the last change. Other users will be able to view previous versions of the tweet once they click the timestamp. When you scroll through your feed, edited tweets will display a small pencil icon next to them to show others that the tweet has been edited.
It's worth noting that the new edit tweet feature has some limitations. For example, there is a limit to how many edits each tweet can have.
Twitter Blue is a monthly subscription that costs $4.99 per month and offers a selection of exclusive features, including the ability to cancel sending a Tweet or change the Twitter app icon.
