Spotify Is Reportedly Testing Musician NFT Galleries

According to Music Ally, major music streaming platform Spotify is reportedly testing the integration of nonfungible token (NFT) galleries on musician profiles. If the test is successful, embedding NFTs to the platform will serve to improve the experience for artists and fans on Spotify.

Recently shared reports indicate that Spotify is currently running a test for a limited number of users of the platform's Android app in the US. These users can see previews of NFTs on artists' profiles. There are currently only two such artists: indie rock band The Wombats and DJ and producer Steve Aoki.

First Ever SMS Sold as an NFT for Over 100,000 Euros
The world’s first text message containing only two words was sold at the Aguttes auction house in Paris for 130,680 euros. Vodafone said it plans to donate the proceeds from the sale to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Users cannot buy NFTs directly on the app, but after reading about NFTs and getting an enlarged preview, they can click to be redirected to the OpenSea page where they can purchase them.

A company spokesperson said that the tests are being conducted "in an effort to improve artist and fan experiences. Some of those tests end up paving the way for a broader experience and others serve only as an important learning."
