Google Meet Introduces On-the-Go Mode for Android Users
Google Meet is making it even more convenient for users to stay connected while on the move with the introduction of the "On-the-Go" mode for Android devices. This new feature, which has been in testing since summer, simplifies the user interface and minimizes distractions, making it perfect for those moments when you need to join a meeting while on the road.
On-the-Go mode leverages the sensors in your smartphone to detect when you are in motion, prompting you to enable this mode. If you don't respond to the prompt within four seconds, it will activate automatically.
This streamlined interface offers quick access to essential functions with larger buttons to reduce the chance of accidental taps. Users can easily see the number of participants and who is currently speaking. Additionally, it provides buttons to mute/unmute your microphone, raise your hand, and select the audio output device.
To save bandwidth and preserve your device's battery life, On-the-Go mode automatically turns off your camera. However, you can still view the speaker's video or screen sharing during the meeting.
The good news is that this feature will be available to all Google Meet users, including Workspace subscribers and those with free accounts.
