ElevenLabs has unveiled a new AI-powered tool called AI Sound Effects, designed to generate a wide range of sound effects from simple text prompts. This innovative feature is aimed at helping creators, such as podcasters, filmmakers, and game developers, to quickly and affordably produce high-quality audio content.

The AI Sound Effects tool can generate sound clips up to 22 seconds long based on user descriptions. For instance, users can input prompts like "waves crashing" or "racing car engine" to receive relevant audio snippets. These sounds can be seamlessly integrated with ElevenLabs' existing voice and music synthesis platforms.

The development of this tool was made possible through a collaboration with Shutterstock, which provided a diverse audio library to train the AI model. The service is available in both free and paid versions. Free users can generate sounds using up to 10,000 characters per month and must credit ElevenLabs in their content. Paid users, however, receive a commercial license for unrestricted use of the generated audio clips.

To use the tool, users simply need to log in, describe the desired sound, and generate it. They can then review and download the best results from the curated selection provided by the AI.
