ChatGPT Launches New Windows App for Paid Subscribers

OpenAI has introduced a ChatGPT app for Windows, now available to users on Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu plans through the Microsoft Store.

Like the macOS version, this dedicated app enables users to interact with the AI chatbot in a separate window that can be easily docked alongside other applications for smoother multitasking. Key features include file and photo uploads and access to OpenAI’s latest model, o1-preview, which enhances reasoning capabilities.

ChatGPT Introduces “Canvas” for Easier Text and Code Editing
The Canvas interface opens in a separate window next to the chat box, enabling users to manually adjust text or code or highlight sections for ChatGPT to suggest edits.

Currently, the Windows app does not support advanced voice mode or certain integrations with OpenAI's GPT Store. OpenAI plans to expand access to all users by the end of the year, with more features added soon.
