Apple Unveiled New MacBook Pro, Next-Gen AirPods, and HomePod Mini
During its Unleashed event on October 18, Apple unveiled a completely new line of MacBook Pro laptops, next-generation AirPods, and an updated HomePod mini speaker.
New MacBook Pros come in two sizes with a 14-inch and a 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, created based on miniLED technology with ProMotion support. The display supports refresh rates up to 120Hz, which can be adjusted. The bezels on the display sides are 24% smaller, and at the top, they are 60% smaller. A distinctive feature of the new MacBook Pro is the presence of a notch, which, like the iPhone, houses the camera with a doubled resolution of 1080p and other sensors.
Both versions feature new Apple processors: M1 Pro and M1 Max. Apple says the M1 Pro chip is 70% more powerful than the base M1, and M1 Max is twice as powerful as M1 Pro.
The new laptops have no Touch Bar but feature the return of MagSafe, an SD card slot, an HDMI port, and an improved headphone jack. According to Cupertino company, the MacBook Pro supports fast charging: in just half an hour, the laptop can be charged up to 50%.
AirPods are being updated for the first time since 2019. The third generation of Apple's branded wireless earbuds looks almost unchanged. They can provide up to six hours of listening to music and up to four hours of phone calls. The new AirPods will also feature Pro-standard sweat and water resistance.
Apple's smart speaker HomePod mini will now be available in five new colors: orange, yellow, white, blue, and space gray.
Apple Music has also received an update. The company offers a low-cost subscription plan for all Siri-enabled devices. It costs $5 a month but lacks spatial audio, lyrics, and music video viewing.
