Apple introduced a new karaoke mode which will be built into its Apple Music streaming service – the new mode will be called Apple Music Sing.

All Apple Music subscribers worldwide have access to the new feature. Karaoke mode allows users to sing along to their favorite songs by following their lyrics in real time, as well as adjust the voice levels.

The tech giant has been working on this for months, and is expected to release the change next year or the year after, if all goes according to plan. As Mark Gurman noted, the change requires a significant amount of AI training and underlying engineering work.

Apple Music Sing includes:

  • Adjustable vocals: Users can control a song's vocal levels with a volume slider.
  • Real-time lyrics: Users can sing along to their favorite songs with animated lyrics that are now cued to the beat and light up slowly.
  • Background vocals: Vocal lines sung at the same time can animate independently from the main vocals.
  • Duet view: Users can use multiple lyric views if they want to share a duet.

In addition, Apple will introduce more than 50 dedicated companion playlists designed for singing together.

The feature launched in December on iPhone, iPad, and the new Apple TV 4K.
