Apple and Samsung Launched LG Smartphone Trade-in Program in South Korea
Last month, South Korean company LG confirmed that it is leaving the smartphone business and is closing its mobile phone division. The company currently plans to focus on other areas such as electric vehicle components, connected devices, smart home devices, robotics, artificial intelligence and business solutions, as well as other platforms and services.
Samsung and Apple have launched a trade-in program that will let you exchange old LG smartphones for new mobile phones in South Korea. To do this, they offer to pay the market value of old phones and give another $135 as a gift.
In particular, Apple has announced a trade-in program that will run until September 25. Owners of LG smartphones with 4G and 5G connectivity will be able to turn in their phones to get good discounts on purchasing the current iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Mini.
The Korean company Samsung has announced a similar program that will run until the last days of June. Owners of older LG devices will be able to turn in their smartphones to get a discount on the flagship smartphones, including Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Samsung currently holds approximately 65% of the smartphone market in the Republic of Korea. Apple's share on the South Korean market is about 20%, respectively. LG, which confirmed the closure of its mobile business, held 13% of the Korean smartphone market.
